Dear Pete: Greetings and blessings in Christ! Please, find the information which you need. Please, feel free to edit the information as you see fit. Tomorrow, we will send specific needs of each local Church as we did not think of this. Thank you, Larson & Jenny NEW LIFE FELLOWSHIP

New Life Fellowship is a young, but dynamic Bible believing fellowship group of Churches in Zambia, and Congo (Zaire). Currently, our Church ministry headquarters is in the Zambian town of Mufulira in the Copperbelt province. Since the inception of our Church movement in 1997, we now have four Churches in Zambia and two Churches in Congo (Zaire) in a rural area called Mokambo and in Lumbubashi. As of July 2001, another local Church is being pioneered among the poor of the poor people on the outskirts of the town of Mufulira. Between 1998, and 2000, we had established three Churches in Angola. But all our Angolan Churches have now been displaced by the on going war in that country and most of the members are now living in a refuge camp in Zambia. For security reasons, we can't reveal the name of the refuge camp where they are living on the internet. We are in touch with these refuge brothers and one of their leaders came to meet us in Mufulira, Zambia to ask for some material support and to tell us that they are continuing on with Church work in the refuge camp. However, as all our Churches are in great need, we do not have the resources to help these brothers and sisters at the moment.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
-To win, disciple, and to train believers to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in their own land and in other nations of the world.
-To help believers put "God First" in their lives and everything (Matthew. 6:33)
-To meet the pressing needs of humanity, (spirit, soul, and body) through believing prayer and practical means.
-To help declining Churches to grow spiritually and numerically.
-To establish a dynamic non denominational Bible college and other institutions of learning in Zambia which will benefit other African nations.

EVANGELISM, SEMINARS & CHURCH PLANTING

All New Life Fellowship Churches do exist for the main purpose of reaching the lost with the gospel of christ. Each local church is involved in personal evangelism among the poor people where we are currently working. However, besides personal evangelism, small scale interdenominational crusades have been conducted at least once each year during the past two years. In June 2001, three small interdenominational crusades were held in the Zambian village of Murundu (near the boarder with Congo), and in the towns of Mufulira and Solwezi. In each crusade, many people gave their lives to the Lord and were encouraged to read the Bible; to pray and to go to a local Church where the Bible is honored as the true word of God and also where the Lord Jesus Christ is recognized as the only Savior of all humanity.

Another important program which is conducted by New Life Fellowship Churches in conjunction with The God First Team is seminars for Church leaders. The main purpose for the seminars is to build believers in their faith and to inspire Church leaders to reach out to evangelize the lost with the gospel and to plant Churches.

OUR CURRENT PROJECTS
(1) Due to to the high poverty levels in Zambia with a lot of unemployment, we are currently trying to develop a carpentry project for unemployed people in the community. We already have some few carpentry tools for the project and we are renovating a small room which we have been renting for the past three months for the project. The room is quite small and we need to rent some additional space. At the moment, we don't have finances to do so. In addition to the carpentry project, we also have two second hand sewing machines which we would like to use for a sewing class for the unemployed ladies. The sewing project is also in need of a room to rent.

(2) A HAMMER MILL FOR THE POOR
Currently, we are also planning to set up a Hammer mill for the poor people in the small town of Solwezi. The Hammer mill will be grinding maize meal (Zambia's staple food) for the people of Solwezi and the surrounding areas. So far, we have appointed three Christian leaders to plan for this project even before we find any money for the project. One leader is our own National co-ordinator; and the other two are from The Christian Brethren Church (also known as Christian Missions in Many Lands)

All our current projects projects as well as the other projects which we would like to set up will not only give skills to the unemployed, but they will also be used as tools for evangelism.

OUR CHURCH LEADERSHIP Our Churches are run by a team of pastors and other leaders under the supervision of the National Co-ordinator, the Copperbelt Co-ordinator as well as the Director who is currently doing post graduate studies in Melbourne, Australia. All our pastors do not receive any salary honorariums at the moment because the Churches and our non denominational ministry called, The God First Team do not have finances to support them. As a matter fact, one of our pastors has his wife working for another Church in order to support him.

PRAYER NEEDS
Please, pray for our carpentry and sewing machine projects. Pray for the Lord's provision of one hundred American dollars each month for the rental of the project room and also to enable us rent another extra room. Currently, we have a one year rental agreement on this room.

Please, pray for the Lord to provide us with seven thousand American dollars to enable us buy an electric hammer mill that will be grinding maize meal (Zambia's staple food) for the people of Solwezi.

** Please, note that there's power in prayer, James 5:16, 17.

Hi Jenny and Larson,

Yes, do write up this information in article form, giving a short but good description of the churches in need of sisiter-church links, their needs, evangelistic opportunities as they receive support, etc. Be sure to list contact address information for setting up sister church links with these congregation, addresses, phone-fax numbers, email addresses etc. I don't think the same security precautions that I took for those congregations in S.E Asia that I put on my section are needed but if you think they are, then take those precautions when writing your article (click on "What is Evangelism?" and then the title "Evangelism Through Sister-Church Links" to see what I'm talking about). If your missions need any Campus Crusade for Christ International resources, be sure to contact them. They can provide a lot of evangelism resources in the language of the local population for almost anywhere in the world. You can look them up online at: http://www.jesusfilm.org

Agape,
Pete Benson

Dear Pete: Victories and greetings in Christ's name! Thank you for the other information which you had told us about Campus Crusade for Christ International materials. Larson did their evangelism course when he was in my first evangelical Bible college in Zambia in 1989, and we will be happy to contact them to supply our people with some appropriate tools for evangelism and Christian growth.

Regarding the needs for our Churches, we think we mentioned that all our Churches are in great need. The first need is of course lack of financial support for the pastor's salaries or honorariums. The other is lack of Church buildings for worship. To build a Church building, all our Churches will first need to have money to apply for Church building sites from their respective councils or village authorities. As for our Lubumbashi Church in Congo (Zaire), they first need money to officially register with the government before they can be allowed to meet in a public place. Thus for now, they are meeting in two different homes. It is of course, legal for them to meet in homes before they can be registered. Just like in Zambia, each local Church has got to find money to pay for it's registration even though it belongs to New Life Fellowship which is an officially registered Church movement. In Zambia, the payment for registration will not be needed for each local Church that is planted once we find money to apply for "Exemption from Registration".

Another great need which we have in all our Churches is lack of finances to support the orphans, widows and other poor people. With the high death rate which in most cases is the result of HIV Aids and malaria, every local Church has got needy widows and orphans. We don't have a vision to start orphanages because we don't want to displace the orphans from their wider extended family. Thus, we would rather support them in the homes of their extended families. We do of course, do respect the old mission stations which have orphanages and those who have visions to start up orphanages. To add to the list of orphans is a list of homeless street kids whose parents can't afford to support them. It is because of these enormous needs in all our Churches that we feel that God has called us not only to preach the word alone, but also to be practical by meeting some of their physical or material needs which we may be capable to meet. For how can we effectively preach to starving and hungry people whom their governments can't help? How can we effectively minister to them without offering them something which can help them to be who God wanted them to be? In all the projects which we would like do establish, we would like to empower the poor people to be able to help themselves for life.

Pete, we hope we have given you some enough information which you can add to what we have already supplied as you see fit.

Once more, thank you for your passion and indeed for your desire to help us advertise our needs our needs to those who might be able to help. God bless, Bro. Larson & Jenny
